All About Digital Cameras
I know what you are thinking? How cute is the picture of me and Jackson right?
Well that pic was taken with my Canon digital camera and since I am the tech girl amongst my friends I am inspired to write about cameras today.
We don't have to go far before we find another digital camera up for sale. They are now everywhere and frankly, if you don't have one you are behind in the times.
Even our smartphones come with cameras so there is no excuse.
Plus they are so much fun.
Look, there is a digital camera for every budget and the technology behind them all is fascinating.
What a digital camera does is it converts any image you take into digital information. This is an incredible feat considering it was not too long ago that they could only take the picture and that was it.
You will find that cameras will fall under three different types.
There are still cameras, video cameras, and of course, modular digital camera systems.
Pretty cool huh?
The ones you and I tend to see in the big stores are the modular digital cameras. They come with a wide array of various features all in the name of helping your take the best picture possible.
A big part of digital cameras is their memory. This is the place they store the digital information they collect. You can get a camera with a hard drive and/or storage on a portable device like a memory stick which you can insert or remove.
So with so many cameras on sale right now with numerous features there are plenty to choose from to meet your needs.
One of the first features I recommend you pay attention to is the resolution. Ideally you want optical resolution with at least 5 megapixels.
Take a look at the picture of my backyard to the right. This was taken with my digital camera.
Do you see all the beautiful colors it captured?
Digital cameras are amazing electronic devices.
If you plan on using your digital camera just to post pictures on the Internet then a 4 megapixels should suffice. You may find you need more memory so keep in mind that you may have to purchase some extra memory.
Another part of digital cameras that you may want to consider is the fact that you can buy extra lenses.
Now lenses are really neat accessories.
The reason I say this is because the lens the camera comes with can take one shot while using another lense can create a whole other digital experience.
I have found that 24mm is not a bad start, all the way up to 125-135mm. This is a good range to stick with in my opinion.
Again it is going to come down to what your ideal reason for buying the camera is.
I also want to tell you about my son's soccer game.
You see as some of you may already know, kids playing sports are hard to capture on camera. This is because you never know what they're going to do.
Since I knew this I looked for a digital camera (eventually choose a Sony) that has some semi-automatic features such as autoshoot.
Autoshoot is great because it allows you to take numerous pictures in a row. Kind of like paparazzi.
One you get over how cool it is you will be even more blown away by the pictures it takes. You don't miss a beat and amongst the handful of pics you take for one scene you end up with quite a few real good ones.
I am talking about pictures that catch the moment so perfectly that you need to frame them. So if this is something you may be using your digital camera for then look for some automatic features without question.
